Week one is in the books!
I made it to Gulu last Tuesday and have been settling in since. Words can be difficult (writer’s block…) so this will be a picture post. 🙂
I was able to ride north of Gulu to Fort Patiko, which is a sweet rock formation standing over the otherwise completely flat countryside. The sunset was sweet and we watched monkeys, Acholi cattle and small fires from above. So great! And, it was *almost* cool out 🙂 Below is the view with South Sudan to the north.
Things have been going very well, I am slowly become more comfortable with life here. Driving has been an adventure! The traffic is a crazy mix of motorcycle taxis (Boda-bodas), trucks, bicycles and people walking everywhere. Riding into town is certainly more exciting than doing so in quiet Northern Michigan. And being on the left side of the road is a bit different as well. 🙂
Things at the Restore School are quiet now as the students are on break. So we will probably use this time to do some maintenance.
I appreciate your prayers as well! Wisdom, contentment, and remaining focused on why I am here are all things I could use prayer for. I also need wisdom on how to maintain relationships back in Michigan while still being present here in Gulu. Avoiding getting malaria again would also be great!
